Bob Purrington

Name of team : The Cleveland Wayfarers

Team members are me Bob Purrington, my daughter Beth and her fiancé Tim, and my son Jack.

We are taking on the challenge of completing the Cleveland Way which is 107 miles split into 10 sections.

Parkinson’s slows me up towards the end of a 10 mile section – I veer to the left and have to be supported.

We are starting on the 28^th September walking from Helmsley to Sutton Bank.

On the 30^th we are walking from Sutton Bank to Osmotherley.

We will be completing the challenge from Saturday 4^th to Sunday 12^th September. On the 12^th we are hoping to walk from Scarborough to Filey where we will finish the walk.

 

I would not be able to complete this challenge without being on the GDNF trial that ended over three years ago. The reason why I am taking on this challenge is to promote neurotropic factors as I believe they are a route to a cure, as I have experienced them.
